Coral Gables sits south of Miami International, and LeJeune Road runs north from the city to the airport. That makes MIA the clear airport for the Gables, including for cruise travelers sailing from PortMiami. FLL is a long run north through Miami and only makes sense when the flight is there.
PortMiami is east along US-1 to Brickell and downtown, then over to Dodge Island. Weekday traffic on US-1 is the main thing to plan around on sailing day. For a Port Everglades ship, leave a wide margin: that run crosses Miami and south Broward, and Ace sets the pickup from your boarding time.
