Shuttles timed to shift change

Built around shift change, day and night.

Hospitals run around the clock, and staff arrive and leave in waves at shift change. A staff shuttle is built around those waves: heavy runs before and after each shift, and a lighter loop in between for people on other schedules.

Send the shift times, the number of staff on each wave and the stops at both ends. Ace sets the runs so nurses, technicians and support staff reach the staff entrance before their shift starts, including the night shift. Dispatch answers 24/7, so a 2 a.m. problem reaches a person.

Shift times differ by unit, and some departments start earlier or later than the main change. List those exceptions with the timetable, and Ace adds a short run for them instead of making a few people wait for the next full loop.

Parking lot and garage loops

Campus parking rarely keeps up with a growing hospital. Staff park in a remote lot, an overflow garage or a leased lot down the road, and a shuttle loop closes the gap. The loop runs on a set frequency, with the same stops every trip, so staff know when the next one comes.

Ace sizes the vehicle to the busiest wave on the loop: a Sprinter van with a driver for a small lot, a minibus for 15 to 20 riders, or a full size motorcoach for 56 when a whole shift moves at once. Several vehicles can run the same loop at peak times.

Shelters matter on a loop. Riders wait in sun and summer rain, so mark a covered stop at each end, agree on where the vehicle pulls in, and keep that spot clear of parked cars. Ace can also write up the loop's timetable for the hospital to share with new staff during orientation.

How a hospital shuttle contract runs

Fixed routes, assigned drivers, standby vehicles.

Most hospital shuttles run on a long-term contract. Ace sets fixed routes and a fixed timetable, assigns vehicles and drivers to the program, and keeps standby vehicles in the plan so a breakdown or a surge in riders does not leave staff waiting.

The hospital names a transportation or facilities contact who reports changes: a new lot, a closed entrance, a change in shift times or a busy season. Ace adjusts the runs and the quote to match. Larger campuses can draw on a partner-fleet capacity of 40+ vehicles.

Support for hospital evacuations

Illustration of metal storm shutters closed over the windows of a low hospital building, sandbags stacked by a side door and palms bending under heavy grey cloudsCoaches and drivers for the hospital's own storm plan.

When a hurricane threatens, a hospital's emergency plan may call for moving people out by coach. Ace supplies coaches and drivers for that part of the plan. The hospital's plan decides who rides, where they go and when they leave; Ace provides the vehicles, the drivers and dispatch.

Plan this before the season, not when a storm is already on the map. Share the evacuation plan's transportation section, the loading points and a contact who can activate it. Hurricane Evacuation Transportation explains how Ace handles storm evacuations for hospitals, senior communities, schools and government institutions.

Staff only: no patient or medical transport

Staff shuttles, not patient transport.

Ace Tours Inc does not provide patient or medical transport, often called NEMT (non-emergency medical transportation). There is no medical equipment and no medical care on board, and drivers are not medical staff.

Hospital shuttles from Ace carry staff. Patients who need a ride to or from care should use the medical transport providers the hospital works with.

How it works

How a hospital staff shuttles trip runs

  1. Illustration of an empty covered shuttle shelter with a bench at the edge of a large staff parking lot, palms and a hospital campus building in the distance

    Wait at the shelter

Staff wait at a covered shelter at the edge of the lot, at a stop that stays the same every day.

  2. Illustration of a white Ace Tours & Bus Charters motorcoach stopped beside a covered shuttle shelter in a large, empty staff parking lot, door open

    The shuttle pulls in

The vehicle stops beside the shelter with its door open, on the timetable posted for that loop.

  3. Illustration of the empty interior of a modern minibus seen from the aisle, high-back seats on both sides and daylight through tinted windows

    A short ride across campus

Staff take a seat for the few minutes between the lot and the campus, coffee in hand.

    Drop-off at the staff entrance

The shuttle stops in the drop-off lane at the staff entrance, and the shift walks straight in.
