Every ride starts by crossing Biscayne Bay.
Miami Beach is an island city, and every ride to the airport or the cruise port crosses Biscayne Bay on one of the causeways. MIA is west across the bay and is the usual airport. PortMiami sits in the bay itself, between the beach and downtown, which makes a South Beach hotel a handy place to stay before a Miami cruise.
FLL is north, up through Sunny Isles Beach or over to I-95. It is worth the longer ride when the fare or the nonstop is better there.
