Brickell is Miami's financial district, just south of downtown across the Miami River. PortMiami sits off downtown on Dodge Island, so a Brickell hotel or rental is a short ride from the cruise terminals. That makes Brickell a common pre-cruise stay, and the ride on sailing day is quick.

MIA is west, reached on the Dolphin Expressway or the surface roads, and is the airport for Brickell. FLL is the long way north and suits only a flight you cannot get at MIA.

How tower pickups work

A van fits the drive; a coach stops on the street.

Brickell is almost all towers, and most have a drive or valet lane at the front built for cars. A Sprinter van usually fits. A minibus or coach often has to stop on Brickell Avenue or a side street. When you book, tell dispatch:

Metromover, Metrorail and the shuttle

The Metromover loops through Brickell and downtown, and Metrorail has a Brickell station on the line to MIA. Both suit a light traveler. Neither reaches the cruise terminals, and every station means carrying luggage. For a cruise or an airport run with bags, a ride from the tower door is simpler.
