Who books a booster coach

Five sports, one booster, one coach.

Booster clubs pay for and organize much of what a school budget does not, and the ride to an away game is often part of it. Ace drives booster trips for football, cheerleading, soccer, baseball and hockey, and for soccer leagues heading to matches and tournaments.

Some boosters book a coach for the team; others book one for parents and fans who want to ride to the away game together. School athletic departments booking on their own budget can use Sports Team Transportation.

Camps travel the same way: YMCA and JCC camps and travel camps book Ace for their outings, and Summer Camp Transportation covers those trips.

A booster coach also keeps the team together before the game: players reach the field at the same time instead of in a string of cars across the parking lot.

Gear decides the coach

Hockey bags fill a bay before players fill seats.

Hockey bags and sticks, football pads and helmets, and baseball bat bags take far more room than backpacks. A full size motorcoach seats 56 and carries gear in the bays under the floor.

A minibus seats 15 to 20 and suits a small roster with light gear. A Sprinter van with a driver suits a coaching staff. Send the gear list with the roster, and say which items are long, since sticks and bats change how the bays are loaded.

Pads and uniforms soaked by an afternoon storm pack bigger for the ride home, so leave spare room in the bays.

Rink nights for hockey boosters

Illustration of an empty indoor ice rink with fresh ice, white boards, a hockey net and glassLate ice time, one ride home.

Hockey runs on rink time. Ice time can fall late in the evening at rinks spread across the region, and a carpool home after a late game is a lot to ask of parents. A booster coach brings the whole team back together.

Ace runs late returns, and the driver's hours are planned with the quote. For a tournament weekend, put every game and every hotel run in one request so the weekend is quoted as one plan.

Rinks have their own loading doors and parking rules. Ask the rink where a coach can park and load, and pass that to dispatch with the schedule.

Soccer league weekends

A soccer league can have teams at several parks on the same weekend. Ace can run more than one vehicle on the same day from a partner-fleet capacity of 40+ vehicles.

Tell dispatch which teams travel together and which parks they play at. Shared vehicles cut the number of runs; separate ones keep each team on its own schedule.

Football and baseball boosters book away games and playoff trips the same way. Cheerleading boosters can ride with the football team, and squads heading to their own events are covered on Cheer Competition Transportation.

Tournament days at a park can be long and hot. When the coach is booked to wait, the team can keep coolers and spare gear on board between games.

What the booster quote depends on

A written number for the booster board.

Booster boards approve spending, so a written quote helps. Ask for one per game, or send the season schedule and get every trip quoted at once.

A booster club booking both a team coach and a fan coach for the same game can ask for one quote covering both. Booking terms come with each written quote.

Season schedules change. When a game moves, call dispatch with the new date, and the trip is quoted again if the change calls for it.

Papers for the school, the league and the board

Insurance papers before the first away game.

Ace Tours Inc is an approved vendor with the Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach County school districts, and that approval is not an endorsement. Leagues and booster boards often ask for proof of insurance: Ace carries $5,000,000 liability coverage and sends certificates of insurance on request.

Ace is an active passenger carrier under USDOT 1310399, and every Ace vehicle has GPS tracking, Wi-Fi and onboard cameras. Ace is not affiliated with any league, venue or event organizer; tickets and admission are bought from them.

Send the paperwork request when you book, so the certificate reaches the league office or the school before the first trip.

How it works

How a booster club and team travel trip runs

  1. Illustration of black hockey equipment bags and a bundle of hockey sticks lined up on a sidewalk beside a metal arena door

    Line up the gear

Bags and sticks wait by the rink or gym door before the coach arrives, so loading takes minutes.

  2. Illustration of a white Ace Tours & Bus Charters motorcoach parked beside a high school football stadium with its door open and aluminum bleachers behind

    Board at the stadium lot

The coach parks beside the field with its door open. Gear goes in the bays first, then the players board. A staff member counts the players on board before the coach pulls out.

  3. Illustration of the empty aisle of a motorcoach with sports duffel bags and a football helmet on the seats

    Ride to the away game

Players settle in with their small bags on board while the driver handles the road.

  4. Illustration of the visiting side of a high school football field with empty aluminum bleachers and an open chain-link gate

    Unload on the visiting side

The coach drops the team at the visitors' gate and waits, or comes back at the time in the quote. After the final whistle, gear goes back in the bays before the players board.
