Competition trips Ace drives

From the school lot to the competition floor.

School cheer squads and cheerleading boosters book Ace for competition days: regional events in South Florida, bigger competitions in Orlando, and other events in Florida. The coach takes the squad, the coaches and the bags from school to the venue and back.

Ace is an intrastate carrier, so every trip starts between Port St. Lucie and Key West and stays within Florida.

Ace is not affiliated with competition organizers or venues. Registration, tickets and admission are bought from them, and their schedules are theirs to set.

Squads that compete several times a season can send the whole competition calendar at once, and dispatch quotes each trip on it.

Cheerleading boosters that also travel with the football team in the fall can book those game trips through Booster Club and Team Travel.

Bags, garment bags and the right size

Garment bags count as much as athletes.

Cheer travel is light on equipment and heavy on bags: uniforms in garment bags, shoes, bows and makeup kits, plus food for a long day. Count the bags along with the athletes.

A minibus seats 15 to 20 and fits a small squad. A full size motorcoach seats 56 with bays below for bags, room for a big squad with its coaches and some parents. A Sprinter van with a driver suits a few coaches or a handful of athletes.

Ask athletes to keep hair supplies, makeup and anything needed in the warm-up room in a carry-on bag, so nothing urgent is packed deep in a bay.

Parents riding along add seats the roster does not show, so put them in the count early.

Orlando and other competition cities

Illustration of rows of citrus trees in flat central Florida country seen from a roadside pull-offWork back from the organizer's check-in time.

The largest competitions draw squads to Orlando, a long drive from South Florida. Ace plans the day around the check-in time the organizer sets: give dispatch that time and the venue address, and the departure time from school works back from it.

Ace runs late returns when an event ends late, and drivers' hours rules are planned into the quote. For an event that runs more than one day, ask dispatch what it can run.

Squads competing close to home, at South Florida venues, have a shorter ride and a simpler plan, but the same rule holds: start from the check-in time.

Coach parking and drop-off areas are set by each venue, so ask the organizer where coaches drop off and send that to dispatch.

What the cheer quote depends on

One written quote for the booster budget.

Every competition trip gets a written quote, useful for a booster budget or a squad fee shared across families.

If the squad size changes after booking, tell dispatch as soon as you know, since it can change the vehicle. Booking terms come with each written quote.

Competition day at the venue

Illustration of a large empty convention hall floor with blue spring-floor panels and rows of folding chairsAgree the pickup spot before the squad walks in.

Competition venues get busy at drop-off. The driver stops at the bus area the venue uses, and the squad walks in together with its bags.

Agree on the pickup spot and a call time with the driver before the squad walks in. When the coach is booked to wait, bags and food can stay on board through the event.

Name one coach or booster parent as the trip lead. Dispatch, which answers 24/7, and the driver work through that one phone number, so a schedule change on the day reaches the coach quickly.

Before the ride home, count athletes and bags at the coach door. A garment bag left in a warm-up room is hard to get back once the coach has left.

How it works

How a cheer competition transportation trip runs

  1. Illustration of cheer duffel bags and dark garment bags with ribbon bows lined up on a wooden bleacher bench

    Pack the competition bags

Garment bags, shoes, bows and makeup kits are packed and lined up the night before, one set per athlete. Labels with each athlete's name make the count at the coach door quick.

  2. Illustration of a white Ace Tours & Bus Charters motorcoach on a wide highway through flat central Florida with small lakes and pines

On the road to the event

The coach heads north through central Florida while the squad rests and the coaches go over the schedule. Bags with uniforms ride in the bays, and the coaches keep the schedule handy.

  3. Illustration of the empty aisle of a motorcoach with dark garment bags laid across seats and small makeup cases on others

    Garment bags ride flat

Uniform bags lie across spare seats or go in the bays, so uniforms arrive ready to wear.

  4. Illustration of blue gym mats rolled up along the wall of a school gym with folded bleachers

    Back to the school gym

The coach brings the squad back to school, where the mats and the next practice are waiting. Parents pick up at the school lot at the return time dispatch confirmed.
